Swinging is popular in all parts of the world, but in Ireland it tends to be more open than some other areas. There are several theories behind this.
The Beginnings
Swinging was popular in the European countries long before it spread to other parts of the world. There are reports that date back to the 16th century of swinging groups. This could be one of the reasons it’s popular in Ireland. The people in that area have been exposed to the lifestyle for much longer than in other parts of the world.
More Media
As swinging spreads throughout the world in popularity, the more industrialized nations are exposed to more of the lifestyle in the media. As the media prints stories and incorporates swinging in fiction and television, more people become aware of it, along with the benefits. Since it’s prevalent throughout Europe, it’s not as taboo in this area of the world as it may be in others.
Technology Advancements
As technology advances, awareness increases. As it relates to swinging, many swingers groups and clubs now have websites that promote community and camaraderie. This allows people to connect with one another globally. Before these websites existed people had to rely on word of mouth and underground clubs. Most had to stay with in their area unless they knew of existing clubs in other locations. This could be problematic for those in Ireland since it expands such a large area. Now, In Ireland this means people from all parts of the country can connect with one another. This is another reason it’s popular in this area.
